RUROUNI KENSHIN

HIMURA KENSHIN

SAGARA SANOSUKE

Formerly Hitokiri Battousai, he has now sworn never to kill anyone forever. He is the successor of the deadly sword technique, Hiten-Mitsurugi-Ryu which focuses on killing quickly and massively.  Now he stays in Kamiya Dojo to try to lead a peaceful life. Alas, trouble often seeks him out and many times he is urged to return to his former self as a master killer.

Previously a member of the Sekihoutai, a peasant army which got slaughtered by the Ishin Shishi, he grew up hating the Ishin Shishi. At the start, he challenged Kenshin, only to have his Zanbatou (horse chopper) cut in half. After the battle, he realizes that Kenshin is not like the rest of the Ishin Shishi. Now he stays as a resident in the Kamiya Dojo.

KAORU KAMIYA

MYOUJIN YASHIKO

The mistress and teacher of Kamiya Dojo. She teaches the style of Kamiya Kashinryu, the sword of life, to her disciples of which now only Myoujin Yahiko is around. She secretly ( at least she thinks it's secret) loves Kenshin and is afraid that he will reform back to Hitokiri.

The last disciple of the Kamiya Dojo, he was a pickpocket when he met Kenshin. Kenshin later found out that Yahiko was being made use by a yakusa group and freed him form their grasp. Yahiko hopes to be as strong as Kenshin or Sanosuke and trains hard in the art of Kamiya Kashinryu

TAKANI MEGUMI

AOSHI SHINOMORI

A beautiful girl who is skilled in the art of medicine, she was forced to produce opium for Kannryu. Kenshin later saved her from Kannryu and she now helps out an old friend of Kaoru's father as an apprentice doctor. Kaoru does not like her talking to Kenshin. (Jealousy?)

Okashira (leader) of the Oniwabanshuu (a ninja clan based in Edo), Aoshi specializes in the Kodachi (short sword). He has sworn revenge on Kenshin after he indirectly caused the death of four members of his Oniwabanshuu when he was trying to rescue Megumi. He wants to defeat Kenshin and claim the title of Hitokiri.

SAITO HAJIME

Once a captain in the Shinsengumi (the arch enemies of the Ishin Shishi), he crossed swords with Kenshin many times during the revolution, all which ended in a draw. After the Restoration, he became a member of the secret police force. He was called upon by his superiors to test Kenshin when the government felt that Kenshin is needed to deal with the rebel Shishio. His special technique is Gatotsu.
